A group of genetically-enhanced children escape from a lab project. Years later we meet Max, one of the escapees who now works for a messenger service in the post-apocalyptic Pacific Northwest. In a future of political, economic and moral collapse, a genetically enhanced superhuman prototype named Max escapes from military confines and dwells amidst the decadent underground street life of *Seattle* to avoid government agents who want to bring her back into the fold. Searching for others of her kind who were scattered in the aftermath of her escape, Max encounters Logan, an idealistic cyber-journalist battling repression and corruption in post-apocalypse America. Eventually, Logan calls her to the highest part of her being and Max becomes his samurai as the pair takes on the ruthless power-brokers of the new millennium. Max and Logan's odyssey leads them closer to the secret of her past, deepening and complicating their relationship in the process. This TV series has just started in the UK on the 17th Jan 2001, and I can say I wouldn't want to miss an episode, because I think that if James Cameron is behind the creation of films like Aliens etc last then I'm sure with the help of Fox,cast & crew behind Dark Angel and viewers ratings I'm sure it has a future on screen… especially with Jessica Alba as one of the main cast members, she's so sexy.. I'm hugely dissatisfied with the series finale, but apart from that, this is definitely one of the best sci-fi series I've seen. DA presented many previously rather unknown actors such as Jensen Ackles, Michael Weatherly and, of course, the leading lady Jessica Alba, who have since then continued their acting careers in prime movies and TV-series.

The main reason, why I got reeled in, was the undefined "thing" going on between Max and Logan. I admit that I love romantic drama above all, but there is more to DA. Jensen Ackles's character Alec, introduced during the second season, was another interesting aspect to the series - it provided the classical growing story of the Prodigal son who begins to come in terms with the big issues in his life: trust, friendship, family, love, ethics and other Christian crap. Not only the characters, but everything else worked fine as well! Hilarious dialogue, interesting plot twists, good drama and so much eye candy to handle! I loved the story, the world, the characters and everything else about the series - it's such a shame how it all had to come to an end in a way that it did; there where so many questions about the relationships and the main plot left unanswered when they decided to pull the plug.
